San Diego County Taxpayers Association announces new president
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The San Diego County Taxpayers Association announced Friday that management consultant and Navy officer Haney Hong will takeover as president and CEO.
Hong will take over for Theresa Andrews, starting next week. Andrews led the nonprofit on an interim basis for several months.
The former submarine officer founded a consulting firm that assists public and private organizations with strategy and managing change. He’s the commanding officer of his U.S. Navy reserve unit.
"Haney brings a very forward-thinking viewpoint to the Taxpayers Association,” said Bill Geppert, a longtime San Diego business and community leader who co-chaired the search committee. "His diverse background — with both military and business experience — equips him well for this important leadership role.”
SDCTA board Chairman Barry Jantz said Hong walked into his initial interview with a draft plan several pages long about his vision for the group, including harnessing technology to bolster civic engagement.
The association is dedicated to promoting accountable, cost-effective and efficient government and opposing unnecessary new taxes and fees.
