San Diego Electric Vehicle Day is the region’s largest EV test drive event

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) –  San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Cleantech San Diego and the Center for Sustainable Energy, are co-sponsoring the San Diego Electric Vehicle Day.

The event is the largest electric vehicle test drive event of its kind in the region and it’s happening during National Drive Electric Week. Now in its seventh year, EV Day in San Diego has grown each year. For the past two years, San Diego EV Day was the largest in the world.

More local residents and drivers nationwide are making the switch to EVs as more models become available and costs come down with improved technology and performance. Today, this region is home to about 43,000 EVs and nearly 1,700 public charging stations – making it one of the easiest places in America to drive electric.

The event is Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at Liberty Station.

Jessica Packard, Communications Manager at SDG&E was at KUSI to tell us about it.
