San Diego enters new decade with lowest unemployment and fastest job growth rate in Southern California

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego county finished 2019 with not only the lowest unemployment rate in Southern California, but also the fastest job growth rate.

The near record low unemployment rate for the county was a 2.8%, nearly a full point below the state unemployment rate.

The job growth rate at around 2.3% means the county added close to 35,000 jobs last year, 3,000 more than the year before.

Growth in construction jobs and seasonal retail positions helped fuel the growth.
