San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering up to bat at Petco Park
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Petco Park is set to hold Expo Day for the eighth annual San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering on Saturday. The festival includes demonstrations, activities and speakers from local companies and organizations. There will be 130 booths staffed by representatives of local companies and research organizations from around Southern California.
Events will also be held at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, New Children’s Museum, Birch Aquarium, Taylor Guitars and the Escondido Police Department, as well as other locations around San Diego. Cal State San Marcos and San Diego State University will also hold events as part of the ongoing festival.
Expo Day is made possible by Biocom Institute, a nonprofit organization, and is sponsored by genomics equipment maker Illumina. Highlights of the day include "Star Wars" themed exhibits, and a TedxKids session run by the Cajon Valley Union School District.
Attendance is free for the event and is expected to attract around 25,000 people.
