San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation hosts upcoming 3rd Annual 5k and Kids Run

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation is holding their 3rd Annual 5K and Fun Run this October. Lauren Phinney sat down with JC Thomas, race director, to talk about the event.

The 5K, which draws hundreds of San Diegans each year, was conceived of and organized by Fire Captain J. Harris. This year, the 5k will feature a kids 1K run and a fire-safety expo.

Formed in 2005, the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by former firefighters and dedicated community leaders to help provide the unmet needs of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Tax-deductible donations to the Fire Rescue Foundation directly supports the work of San Diego’s firefighters, lifeguards, and paramedics.

The City of San Diego’s Fire-Rescue Department encompasses all fire, emergency medical, lifeguard and emergency management services. This includes 9-1-1 services, fire inspections, permits and community education.
