San Diego fire season 2016

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Fire crews battled three fires Monday in San Diego County, adding to the sense that the county is on the verge of a very active fire season.

High temperatures and dry vegetation have been a factor in these fires, while windy conditions have spread the flames. 

So far, crews have battled fires in the following areas:

Pala Fire, Pala

70 acres, 100% contained

6/7/2016: After igniting twice, Pala fire fully contained

6/5/2016: Pala wildfire containment up to 90 percent

6/3/2016: Update: Pala fire 95 percent contained, evacuations lifted for some residents

6/2/2016: Pala fire 95 percent contained

6/1/2016: Pala fire at 15 percent containment, Cal Fire says

Temecula Fire, Temecula

139 acres, 95% contained

6/7/2016: Temecula Fire reaches 95 percent containment

6/6/2016: Temecula Fire reaches 85 percent containment

6/5/2016: Temecula fire grows exponentially overnight, 1 minor injury reported

6/4/2016: Temecula brush fire burns along Interstate 15, forces lane closures

Tierra Fire, Tierra Del Sol

8 acres, 20% contained

6/6/2016: San Diego firefighters were battling a new wildland fire Monday, which ignited near the border in the Boulevard area of San Diego County. The fire started around 4:00 p.m. off Zarina Lake Drive in Tierra Del Sol.According to Cal Fire, the flames burned 8 acres and was growing at a moderate rate of speed. Crews had it 20 percent contained at 6:00 p.m. No structures were threatened.
