San Diego gas prices fall for 19th day

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The average price of gasoline in San Diego County fell
Monday for the 18th time in 19 days, dropping 1.1 cents to $4.203 for a gallon
of regular self-serve, one day after decreasing 1.7 cents.

The average price has dropped 16.9 cents over the past 19 days and is
7.7 cents less than one week ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil
Price Information Service.

However, it is one-tenth of a cent more than one month ago and 21.7
cents higher than one year ago because of a 15.7 cent increase over a seven-day
span immediately before the declines began caused by low inventories from the
closures of refineries in Southern California and Northern California for
maintenance.

The average price fell 13 consecutive days, was unchanged Wednesday,
then resumed declining Thursday.

Analysts are crediting the decreasing prices to increased supply.
