San Diego gun buy-back program with ‘no questions asked
ENCANTO (KUSI) – San Diego Police Department hosted a gun buy-back event, where officials provided gift cards and custom skateboards to those who wished to dispose of their unwanted guns.
District Attorney Summer Stephen describes this as a safe alternative to keeping unused guns in an unsafe environment, citing examples such as a family member in the same residence that may be at risk or guns that are associated with a lifestyle that no longer pertains to the owner.
SDPD officials also say that the risk of unwanted guns ending back up on the black market or in the hands of criminals is likely due to robberies and theft.
The buy-back event has a strict “no questions asked” policy and those who chose to return their unwanted guns were not asked to provide any personal information.
