San Diego local is ninth woman to finish Mt. Everest ultramarathon

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Encinitas mother Vivian Lee made history as the ninth woman to finish the Mt. Everest extreme ultra challenge.

The Everest Marathon in Nepal is the world’s highest race and one of the most dangerous. The challenge is a 38-mile run along five high Himalayan passes reaching nearly 17,000 feet in altitude.

Last month alone, 11 people died while attempting to climb the mountain, but Lee wants people to know that if she can do it, anyone can.
