San Diego locals give up on calling police on homeless
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – In the month of April, over 1,000 people were considered homeless for the first time on the streets of San Diego while just ~700 found housing.
The residents of Downtown have largely given up on enlisting police assistance to deal with the crisis when it makes it’s way to their front steps, or into their businesses, say locals.
Response times are historically high as San Diego Police Department deals with a 15-year shortage of officers.
KUSI’s Dan Plante went live with details.
