Chula Vista Costco evacuated following coolant leak, 7-to-9 patients transported for medical care

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) — A coolant leak at a Chula Vista Costco prompted response from San Diego City and County hazmat. A forklift punctured a refrigerant pipe near the cooler area, forcing the store to evacuate. Seven-to-nine patients will be evaluated and transported for treatment, with up to five more possibly requiring medical attention. 

The call came in at 2:38 p.m. for the Costco location at 895 E. H St. The store will remain closed for the remainder of Sunday as officials manage the scene.
