Donald Trump may testify as defense witness in Trump University trial

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A federal judge in San Diego has set a Nov. 28 trial date for the ongoing lawsuit against Trump University. The lawsuit alleges Donald Trump and his now-defunct Trump University deceived enrolling students into thinking the courses would make them rich in the real estate market. Trump is listed as a defense witness and could be called to testify.

Attorneys for Trump asked U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel to push the trial back during Trump’s presidential campaign. The presidential election is Nov. 8.

The lawsuit was initially filed by Tarla Makaeff in San Diego, accusing Trump of misleading students to entice them to enroll for a $35,000 "elite" membership with Trump University. Makaeff has since been removed as class representative in the suit.

Plaintiffs claim Trump University falsely gave the impression of being an accredited university, and that Trump would be hand-selecting mentors and experts to help guide students toward financial success in real estate.
