Fire destroys home in Vista

VISTA (KUSI) — A house fire in Vista left one home uninhabitable. Vista Fire Department was dispatched at 3:18 p.m. Saturday afternoon in response to a reported structure fire, receiving additional calls about the blaze while units were en route.

The first emergency vehicle arrived to the home at 3:26 p.m. and discovered a fire had started in the garage of the home and was spreading through the structure. The blaze moved rapidly through the home and into the attic as strong shore winds fueled the flames. Firefighters searched the home and determined there were no bystanders inside.

The fire was contained at 3:49 p.m.

The lone occupant of the home was outside of the home when emergency responders arrived on scene. 24 firefighters total from both San Marcos and Oceanside Fire Departments assisted with the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The structure sustained significant damage from fire and smoke.
