San Diego Fire Department clears report of trapped juveniles in San Carlos storm drain

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — 5:50 p.m. — Local fire and rescue crews dispatched to a San Carlos neighborhood following a call reporting two youths were trapped in a storm drain called off their search after clearing the area. A K9 unit called to the scene indicated no persons were in the drain and San Diego Fire Department cleared out. 

The investigation took approximately two hours. 

4:35 p.m. — Emergency responders were dispatched to a neighborhood in San Carlos after a call was placed informing authorities that two youths went missing inside of a storm drain. The address officials were sent to was 8381 Beaver Lake Ave. 

The San Diego Fire Department engaged a full rescue response, pulling resources in from the SDFD, Heartland Fire and San Diego Police Department. The missing juveniles could not be immediately located by authorities, causing officials to request assistance from a search and rescue K9 team. 

Units are expected to go into the storm drain channel as they attempt to locate the missing persons.
