35-year-old man killed in Vista car collision

VISTA (KUSI) — 35-year-old Richard One Lee was killed in a traffic collision that occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. Saturday in Vista. Authorities publicly identified the victim for the first time Tuesday. Lee died at the scene of the crash due to multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the accident, according to authorities.

Lee’s Honda sedan struck a BMW at the intersection of South Santa Fe Ave. and Civic Center Dr., San Diego sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth Werner said. The impact caused him to lose control of his car before it wrapped around a traffic signal pole, according to the sheriff’s department and the county medical examiner’s office.

The BMW that was struck rolled and landed in a parking lot, but no other people were harmed by the incident. The driver of the BMW suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment. The identity of the second driver has not been disclosed to the public.
