San Diego People: ALS Awareness Month

May is ALS Awareness Month. ALS, or amyotrophic laterals sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Approximately 20,000 adults live with the disease at any given time. While there is not yet a cure for ALS, scientists gave been making progress by learning more about the disease.
