San Diego Sheriff’s Department holds Champion’s Camp

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Dozens of local teenagers spent the night at the Hall of Champions Wednesday night, participating in a two-day even set to help set a positive influence on the youth of San Diego. The Sheriff’s Champion’s Camp will host around 100 teens while it runs.

At check-in, every student is given a t-shirt and sweatshirt urging them to "act like a champion."

The goal it to help the teens understand their potential and encourage them to stay on the right path in life. For those who’ve already seen the "other" side, this is an opportunity to help them keep away from it.

Campers are introduced to different aspects of law enforcement. Bomb squad, search and rescue, and even skateboarding exercises are administered to those in attendance.
