ALL IN THE TIMING
North Coast Repertory Theatre (Encinitas)

Wit, intellect, satire and just plain fun! Off-Broadway’s hit, ALL IN THE TIMING is a sextet of one-act comedies by playwright David Ives, which uses inspired language and word play to examine various attempts at relationships and communication with comical results. It will push your smart buttons and tease your brain as Ives spins hilarity out of words. Join us for laughter and an experience that will tickle your heart.

• Sure Thing: A man and a woman meet for the first time in a cafe, where they have an awkward meeting continually reset each time they say the wrong thing, until, finally, they romantically connect.
• Words, Words, Words: Three chimpanzees, named after famous authors and expected to write Hamlet, for the most part waste time engaging in pointless banter, while occasionally inspired to make grandiose literary allusions.

THEY PROMISED HER THE MOON

In 1960 the famed “Mercury Seven” trained at NASA to become the first American astronauts. But they weren’t alone. Thirteen women also underwent the same rigorous psychological and physical testing. The first woman to be tested, Jerrie Cobb, even out-performed her male counterparts. But while Alan Shepard and John Glenn went on to become household names, Ms. Cobb never got that chance. In vividly theatrical terms, the West Coast premiere of They Promised Her the Moon tells the unknown true story of this exceptional and unjustly overlooked woman—skilled aviator, world-record-holding pilot, successful business executive—and the powerful forces that kept her from reaching orbit.

UN-
TuYo Theatre (at The Lyceum Downtown)

“UN-” is a collection of stories written by Latinx authors across both San Diego and the U.S.. The production weaves together movement, song, film, and poetry to tell stories of how immigrants make it through this country. It reclaims what it means to be American by amplifying the voices of Dreamers, DACA recipients, and the undocumented who’ve been disenfranchised around citizenship. And it shows immigrants in times of trouble, in times of triumph, and in their everyday lives. It not only teaches but entertains and celebrates the full, human self.

• Short films by local Latinx artists will be played before every show.
• A conversation with the cast and creative team immediately follow every Sunday afternoon performance.
• Walfred Rodas Lopez is a fantastic young actor who got his start right here in San Diego at JCompany Youth Theatre.
