San Diego’s cruise season is back!

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego’s 2015-16 cruise season began Wednesday with the arrival of the 2,170-passenger Celebrity Cruises Infinity.

65 cruise ships are scheduled to make port calls in San Diego through May 2016. The last cruise season saw 70 local port calls – bringing a total of around 200,000 passengers to town, according to the Port of San Diego.

The local economic impact of each port call is estimated to generate $2 million from passenger and crew spending, and businesses that service the ships.

The Infinity is on a nine-night Pacific coastal cruise that begins and ends in San Francisco. The cruise also visits Monterey, Santa Barbara, Catalina
and Ensenada.
