San Diego’s Filipino Employees Association comes together for day of giving
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Councilmember Chris Cate and San Diego’s Filipino community are joining forces to raise funds for the Taal Volcano relief efforts. The Taal Volcano is located on the island of Luzon in the province of Batangas, 30 miles south of Manila (the capitol of the Philippines). Its eruption has affected thousands of Filipinos.
“My family is from this area of the Philippines. I am proud to partner with Dirty Birds restaurants and Gawad Kalinga to help raise funds for Filipinos in need,” stated Councilmember Chris Cate.
All Dirty Birds restaurants in San Diego, will be designating 20% of the day’s (Wednesday, January 22, 2020; 11:00 a.m. to close) sales to Gawad Kalinga to support the Taal Volcano relief efforts. Gawad Kalinga is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending poverty by restoring the dignity of the poor.
