San Marcos 35, Scripps Ranch 16
Football returns to Excalibur Field when the San Marcos Knights host the Scripps Ranch Falcons on Friday at 7:00 pm. This will be the second meeting between the two programs, the Falcons were victorious last year with a 38-21 win over the Knights. This Friday night San Marcos will try to avenge that loss. The Falcons will try to start the season on the right foot. This past weekend they traveled to La Jolla where they lost to Vikings by a score of 45-31, in the non-conference matchup. The Falcons are led by Quarterback Josh Fish. The 6’2” Senior will look to cause a problem for the Knights both in the air and on the ground. Fish has the abilities to lead his team to victory over San Marcos for the second year in a row.
San Marcos will try to keep the momentum going after defeating the Torrey Pines Falcons 21-7, in a home game last week. That warm up should help the Knights in their battle on Friday. When asked about the game plan against the Falcons, Head Coach Jason Texler said, “ We have to keep the tempo up.” “ Controlling the ball and establishing the run game, while stopping their offense are our top priorities,” he added. The Knights have some big bodies on the line to help achieve those goals. Senior Kevin Estes is their star tackle, standing at 6’6” weighing 273 he will cause a problem for the lineman standing across from him. Estes has verbally committed to University of Wisconsin.
This game will have a lot of action with superstars on each team. Get your tickets for the showdown at Excalibur Field.
