San Marcos 41, Chula Vista 24

San Marcos scored 21 unanswered points in the first half and 20 unanswered points in the second half, but in between Chula Vista gave them a scare.

The Knights ran out to a 21-0 first half lead before the Spartans scored in the 2nd quarter to cut the deficit to 21-6. Chula Vista would score again just 2.5 seconds before halftime to go into the locker room with some momentum, trailing 21-12.

The Spartans then took the second half kickoff and marched down the field and scored to cut the San Marcos lead to 21-18.

But San Marcos would respond.  Converting a key 4th down midway through the 3rd quarter, the Knights scored on a 1-yard run to extend their lead to 10 points.

San Marcos scored twice more in the 4th quarter while the defense shut down the Spartans for most of the final 20 minutes to win 41-24.

The win makes San Marcos 2-0 on the season, while the loss drops Chula Vista to 0-2.

The Knights travel to Escondido next Friday, and Chula Vista travels to Hilltop.
