San Marcos man may have been under influence before crash

SAN MARCOS (KUSI) – A San Marcos man severely injured himself and his passenger after crashing his speeding SUV Sunday night, and police now believe the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

The 23-year-old driver, who has yet to be identified, lost control of his vehicle on Borden Road near Mulberry Drive. Both he and his passenger were thrown from the SUV, which rolled over several times before coming to a halt.

Paramedics were called to the scene to assist both men, who were taken to Palomar Medical Center with significant injuries.
