Week 5: Kearny Komets 58, San Ysidro Cougars 0

The Kearny Komets walked away from San Ysidro’s stadium with another win, improving them currently to 4-0.

In the first quarter, the Komets’ Hayden Lundy intercepted the ball and returned it for a 50-yard touchdown. This would give Kearny an early lead of 6-0.

Still in the first, Kearny’s Duce Reynolds makes a 20-yard run which would then lead to him advancing to a 10-yard touchdown, making it 13-0, Kearny.

Quarterback Kenyon Williams then found Komet Devon Jones for a 60-yard touchdown pass.

The final score, Kearny 58, San Ysidro 0.

This is the second consecutive year that Kearny has maintained an undefeated streak (4-0) at the start of the season.


The San Ysidro Cougars will be defending their field this Friday against the Kearny Komets.

Kickoff will start at 7 p.m.

San Ysidro is still out to gain their first win this season. However, head coach Keith Aguon has high hopes.

“Kearny is undefeated, we’re winless, but we’re not going to back down,” Aguon said. “Not a lot of people believe in us but we’re ready to compete.”

On the other side of the ball, the Komets who currently hold an undefeated mark of 3-0. Their quarterback, Kenyon Williams, has completed 14 passing touchdowns and had four intercepted over the course of three games.

This will be a challenge for San Ysidro defense.

“We take take the game as it comes and expect them (San Ysidro) to give us their best,” stated Kearny head coach Will Gray.
