San Ysidro teachers strike enters third day; District losses mounting
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – As teachers in San Ysidro strike for a third consecutive day, the district is losing tens of thousands of dollars.
It will cost the district nearly $96,000 in state funding for the first day of the strike alone.
The district is losing money because parents are pulling their kids from school.
The teachers are fighting for a pay increase and health benefits, and smaller class sizes. Meanwhile, the district says it’s facing a financial crisis and can’t afford it.
