Santa Ana winds heading towards San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Conditions are cool for now but Santa Ana winds are heading towards San Diego.

Nice onshore flow is keeping conditions cool Tuesday but Santa Ana winds and warmer conditions move into the county by the end of the week.

A marine layer is extending into San Diego’s coastline early Tuesday but is expected to clear by mid-morning to plenty of sunshine. Despite sunny skies, strong onshore flow will keep temperatures cool throughout the day.

Overnight a coastal eddy will deepen, deepening cloud coverage along San Diego’s coast. Mountain areas can expect gusty winds throughout the day, strengthening at night.

By Thursday Santa Ana winds will develop and conditions will warm. It is possible the National Weather Service will issue a wind advisory during this time.

Tuesday’s high temperatures are expected to be 70 degrees along the coast, 76 degrees inland, 62 degrees in the mountains and 85 degrees for the deserts.
