Santa Fe Christian 27, Francis Parker 7

On Friday night, the Santa Fe Christian Eagles traveled to Francis Parker to take on the Lancers after both teams have come off of a week of rest; the Eagles had a bye and the Lancers had to forfeit their last game due to injury.

The game began relatively slow with only a 3-0 lead by the Eagles after the first quarter. Early in the second, Lancers QB Khaleel Jenkins scored on an impressive 23 yard touchdown run, dodging Eagles right and left. However, shortly thereafter Santa Fe Christian RB Benton Weeks answered with his own 8 yard score to regain the lead at 10-7. Closing out the first half, Eagles kicker Jake Bailey scored on a career long 54 yard field goal.

Going into the second half, Eagles increased their lead to 20-7 thanks to an 8 yard touchdown run by QB Carter Roberts. This game proved to be all Santa Fe Christian as they went on again to score on a 45 yard double pass touchdown to Caleb Phillips. With a few minutes left in the fourth quarter, Francis Parker was driving down the field in attempt to get some more points on the board. However Eagles’ Weeks, who previously had a rushing touchdown, intercepted Lancers’ Jenkins in order to seal the game for Santa Fe Christian. Benton Weeks had 23 carries for 140 yards on the night.

The Eagles went on to win the game 27-7 and improve their record to (3-3), an impressive feat considering they lost their first three games of the year. The Francis Parker Lancers drop to (3-4) on the season.
