SD airport authority announces $500 million expansion plan

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – This week, the airport authority announced a 10-year agreement with the airlines that will raise over half a billion dollars to improve access to and from the airport.

The plan is consistent with Sandag’s plan to build a regional transportation center as a central point to access the airport from every part of the county.

It includes transit and transportation improvements on and off the airport, a potential new access road adjacent to N. Harbor Dr., a new airport transit station, upgrades to terminal one and even the incorporation of bike lanes, said President & CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Kim Becker.
