SDG&E shuts off power to thousands of residents near Alpine due to furious winds

ALPINE (KUSI) – SDG&E has shut off power in several communities through out San Diego County because of the dangerous weather conditions.

Wednesday morning, more than 22,000 customers were/are without power in Alpine, Boulevard, Campo, Descanso, parts of El Cajon, Julian, Mount Laguna, Pauma Valley, Potrero, Ramona, San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ysabel, and Valley Center.

More than 18,000 customers could face potential power shutoffs now through Thursday evening.

KUSI’s Ed Lenderman was live east of Alpine where the winds were gusting all morning long.

Several San Diego County Schools are closed Wednesday as a result of the power shutoffs.
