SDPD investigate suspicious death after body is found off I-5

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the death of a female in the Egger Highlands Community.

This afternoon at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a check the welfare call of a female in the 600 block of Saturn Boulevard. Officers located a deceased White female, approximately 60 years-old, in an encampment behind a commercial complex. She appeared to have sustained blunt force trauma to her upper torso. 

Since it was not known how the decedent sustained her injuries, Homicide Unit Investigators were called to the scene out of an abundance of caution. The Medical Examiner will be performing an autopsy in the days ahead to ascertain the female's cause of death.

The decedent's identity is not known at this time.
