SDPD officer, pedestrian critically injured by vehicle in Midway District

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A San Diego police officer and a pedestrian were critically injured Thursday morning when they were both struck by a vehicle on a street in the Midway District.

Emergency crews responded shortly before 5 a.m. to a crash near the intersection of Midway Drive and Rosecrans Street, San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Rick Ballard said.

Both patients were taken to hospitals in critical condition, Ballard said, adding that one went to UC San Diego Medical Center and the other went to Scripps Mercy Hospital.

An update on their conditions was not immediately available.

Police shut down southbound Rosecrans Street between Midway Drive and Sports Arena Boulevard for the crash investigation.
