SDSU Student who was hospitalized last week, has passed away
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The San Diego State student who was hospitalized last week after he attended a reported fraternity gathering has passed away, according to San Diego State University President Adela de la Torre.
“As a mother, nothing can replace the profound loss of a child, and the devastating heartbreak the family and their loved ones are experiencing. All of us in the Aztec family are sending our prayers, and are here to support the family,” said de la Torre.
The first semester student is Dylan Hernandez, 19, from Jacksonville, Florida.
His friends have established a GoFundMe page, which is accepting donations.
Counseling services were offered to “assist students on any emotional or psychological matters,” the school said.
The university created a webpage, which will be updated as frequently as possible with additional information, including details about support services.
Campus police were called to Tenocha Hall in the 6100 block of Montezuma Road Thursday morning regarding a student in need of medical attention, according to the San Diego State University Police Department.
All Interfraternity Council activities at San Diego State University were suspended Friday following the incident.
