SDSU trolley station to be renamed for long-time public servant

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The trolley station at San Diego State University will be named Wednesday for Leon Williams, whose 30 years of public service include a stint as chairman of the Metropolitan Transit System.

Williams is a former San Diego city councilman and county supervisor. As the head of the MTS, he was credited for extending the Green Line to SDSU, where he attended college and is a distinguished alumnus.

The SDSU station opened in 2005.
