‘SDSU West’ and ‘SoccerCity’ plans draw endorsements and comparisons

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — The proposal to build an expanded campus for San Diego State on the site of the former Qualcomm Stadium has received two new endorsements.

The Sierra Club and the San Diego Police Officers Association are the latest groups to throw their support behind an initiative that would allow the City of San Diego to sell the Mission Valley stadium site to San Diego State.

The plan is competing with another proposal being touted by La Jolla based FS Investors, which would build a professional soccer stadium and mixed-use development on the same site.

This week, the San Diego City Attorney’s office issued a brief analysis of the SDSU West plan.

KUSI’s Sasha Foo has an update.
