Seattle Seahawks draft SDSU’s Rashaad Penny in first round

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny was selected 27th overall by the Seattle Seahawks Thursday night in the NFL Draft.

Penny joins Hall-of-Famer Marshall Faulk as the only SDSU running backs to be selected in the first round of the draft.

The first-team AP All American finished his college career by rushing for 2,248 yards in 2017, good for 5th most in BCS history.

Penny will be expected to contribute right away for a team in Seattle that has struggled to find a lead running back since Marshawn Lynch left the team.

Penny will also be active on special teams, he scored three return touchdowns during his final year at SDSU.

Seattle will look to Penny to revitalize their offense and help them return to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2015.
