Second taxi driver killed in less than a month
LEMON GROVE (CNS) – An investigation is under way into the
weekend death of a 39-year-old taxi driver who was shot and then crashed his
cab in Lemon Grove.
Jalaludin Hamrah's cab, which had rolled over in the 3400 block of Main
Street near the Lemon Grove trolley station, was found around 3:50 a.m. Sunday,
the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported.
Paramedics pulled Hamrah from the wreckage and discovered a bullet wound
in his upper body, said sheriff's homicide Lt. Larry Nesbit.
Hamrah was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not immediately known
whether the gunshot, the crash, or both killed him, he said.
Hamrah worked for Main Cab Co. and frequently picked up customers in the
El Cajon and Lakeside areas, including Barona Resort and Casino.
Anyone with information on the slaying was urged to call San Diego
County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS.
