Second threat made toward students, staff at Meadowbrook Middle School

POWAY (KUSI) — The Poway Sheriff’s Department was investigating a second threat made against Meadowbrook Middle School Friday morning.

On Oct. 27, school staff discovered a seventh-grade student with a so-called "hit list" with the names of students. The student was detained. As a precaution, students whose names appeared on the list have been notified. Deputies will also conduct increased patrols at the school on Monday, Oct. 30.

The incident is under investigation with the cooperation of the school district.

This is the second threat made against Meadowbrook Middle School this week. On Thursday, faculty members found a similar "hit list" and the student responsible was taken into custody.

According to Poway Sheriff’s, the two threats are unrelated and the two accused students don’t know each other.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous "Students Speaking Out" hotline at (888) 580-8477.
