Second victim dies as search continues for brother, fiance’ of shooting victims
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 22-year-old man who was shot along with his
brother's fiancee outside the Westfield Mission Valley Mall the day before
Christmas has died, police said Friday.
Salvatore Belvedere of San Diego was found shot around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday
in a car parked the 1600 block of Camino Del Rio North. He was taken to a
hospital in critical condition, but later died, according to San Diego police
Lt. Mike Hastings. Police did not say when Belvedere died.
Ilona Flint, the 22-year-old fiancee of Belvedere's brother, was also
shot and died at the scene after calling 911, police said.
Both victims were shot in the head, police said, adding that the pair
apparently had not been robbed.
The motive was under investigation. The Macy's store, near where the car
was found, was open during the shooting, and investigators were looking for
witnesses to help identify a possible suspect in the case.
Hastings on Tuesday described the possible suspect as a male of unknown
race, around 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 11, last seen wearing tan pants and a shirt. He
may have fled in dark gray 2008-2011 Honda.
Meanwhile, police were continuing to search for Flint's fiance, Gianni
Leonardo Belvedere, 24, who was last seen at his residence in Tierrasanta about
10 p.m. Monday.
Relatives pleaded Thursday for him to come forward.
“We need you right now, please call us,” sister Antoinette Belvedere
said.
Gianni Leonardo Belvedere is white, about 6 feet tall and 165 pounds
with brown hair and brown eyes. His vehicle is a dark green four-door 2004
Toyota Camry XLE with the Utah license plate B154VZ.
