Semi overturns, spills hot asphalt on I-8 connector ramp

LA MESA (KUSI) — An overturned truck spilled hot asphalt on a freeway connector in La Mesa Monday, prompting California Highway Patrol to close down the ramp for clean-up.

California Highway Patrol closed two lanes connecting northbound State Route 125 and westbound Interstate 8 just after 10:15 Monday as crews worked to clean up hot asphalt that spilled from the semi when it overturned.

Motorists were directed to use the right shoulder to pass the overturned semi-truck. Lanes were reopened before 1 p.m. Monday.

No injuries were reported.
