Sharp HealthCare hits 500,000 COVID-19 vaccines administered

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Sharp HealthCare announced Thursday it has hit the significant milestone of administering 500,000 COVID-19 vaccines to the community.

Sharp said it has fully vaccinated more than 225,000 San Diegans, around 20% of those fully vaccinated in the county.

According to the County of San Diego, 75% of residents 16 and older (or approximately 2.017 million people) need to be vaccinated to reach herd immunity.

This means approximately 1 million more San Diegans still need to be vaccinated.

“It’s easy to get vaccinated, and thousands of slots are now available at Sharp. Simply walk into the following Sharp sites, Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” said Vice President of Sharp HealthCare’s system pharmacy services Suzanne Shea.
