Shipping your holiday gifts on time

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Packages that are big, packages that are small. Packages that are going near or going far, the U.S. Postal Service ships them all.

Monday was considered the busiest mailing day of the year, but about dozens of people had the very same idea.

Joyce is sending her package East. “It’s going to Connecticut to my 85-year-old mother,” she said.

These days, postal employees are working hard, but customers can help make the shipping easier.

First, use the right box, a sturdy one.

If you are shipping anything that is breakable or fragile, then make sure you wrap it in bubble wrap, and put a lot of cushion around it.

Customers who ship packages by priority mail get a little extra dividend.

Priority mail includes tracking, and the first $50 includes insurance.

It’s easy to become forgetful about a lot of things, and when it comes to shipping toys, remember to remove the batteries.

As far as the postal service goes, there is no shortage of energy. At the postal office this week, everyone is charged up.
