Short police chase ends in fiery crash for Vista teen

VISTA (CNS) – A 13-year-old boy led deputies on a short vehicle pursuit
that ended in a fiery crash in Vista early Monday, but no one was seriously
hurt, authorities said.

A deputy spotted the boy driving a car without its headlights at North
Santa Fe Avenue and Bobier Drive shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to San
Diego County sheriff's Lt. Clayton Lisk.

The boy refused to pull over and was pursued for about a block before he
crashed into some shrubbery on the side of the road at Bobier Drive and Kiva
Lane, Lisk said.

Deputies pulled the boy out of the car, which had caught fire, he said.
The boy complained of pain and was taken to an area hospital to be checked.
Lisk said the boy was quickly cleared of any medical concerns and taken to
Juvenile Hall.
