Shot fired during Rolando smoke shop robbery

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Police were on the lookout Tuesday for the man who fired a shot while robbing a Rolando-area smoke shop and his accomplice who emptied its cash register.

The two suspects used bandanas to cover their faces while robbing Illusions Smoke Shop at 6957 El Cajon Blvd. shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

As one suspect held the business owner at gunpoint and demanded cash, the other grabbed money from the register, Delimitros said.

Delimitros said that a man stepped out of the restroom and startled the robbers as they were running out of the store with an undisclosed amount, which prompted the gun-wielding man to fire a shot into a wall.

Police described both suspects as black men wearing white bandanas over their faces. One was tall and thin and was wearing a black shirt and the other was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and basketball shorts.
