Silver Pigskin Fan Vote: Dezmon Patmon, Patrick Henry

The Dezmon Patmon story begins with a warm sweet potato pie on the kitchen table.

"My family grew up with Ricky Williams," Patmon said. "He was in my family’s house probably every day. He loved my grandmother’s pies."

What no one knew at the time was that Patrick Henry’s greatest exports were in the same room at the same time.

The 6 foot 3 wide receiver has become one of the most sought after skill players on the Western seaboard, and for great reason. Patmon’s versatility has led to 1405 yards of total offense over his varsity career. In his senior season, limited to just seven games, Patmon has 47 catches for 609 yards and 5 scores.

"I’ve watched Dezmon grow and mature," head coach Mike Martinez said. "I’m proud of the football player and person he’s become. I love him."

His recruiting trail has more curves than the dazzling screen routes he’s perfected. While SDSU and Boise State have been his only official stops, he’s made his way to Stanford and Arizona. Other schools ranging from California to Villanova have put in requests.

"It’s overwhelming," Patmon said. "I get calls every night from coaches."

They wouldn’t call if they didn’t see what the Prep Pigskin Report sees. That’s why Dezmon Patmon is a semifinalist for the most exalted trophy in the land.
