Six injured in Oceanside apartment fire

OCEANSIDE (CNS) – Six people, including a police officer, were being treated Wednesday for injuries they suffered in an apartment fire in Oceanside.

The fire in the 3900 block of Waring Road was reported around 10:25 p.m. Tuesday and knocked down at 11:05 p.m., an Oceanside Fire Department dispatcher said.

Six people were injured in the second-floor apartment fire, police and fire officials told U-T San Diego. They included a police officer suffering from smoke inhalation, two people in critical condition, and three others whose conditions were not immediately reported.

The two critically injured victims were airlifted to a hospital burn unit. The police officer suffered smoke inhalation as he and a bystander rescued apartment occupants from the fire before firefighters arrived, the newspaper reported.
