Sketch released of fondling suspect

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – San Diego police Thursday released a composite sketch of a heavy-set man responsible for fondling young girls in Logan Heights and Mountain View.

The most recent incident took place last Friday around 12:40 p.m., when a 10-year-old girl walking near Logan Elementary School in the 300 block of S. 30th Street stopped to let a man pass her, and he grabbed her chest, Lt. Rick O'Hanlon said.

There have been similar incidents the past few weeks, but the exact number of groping incidents the man might be responsible for is unknown.

O'Hanlon said the victims were all young, Hispanic girls who were walking near elementary and middle schools. None were physically hurt, he said.

The suspect is a dark-skinned Latino in his 30s with short dark hair, police said.

The groping of a 13-year-old girl in the Stockton neighborhood on Wednesday by a thin Hispanic man is unrelated to this series, according to the lieutenant.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to contact the SDPD Child Abuse Unit at (619) 531-2260, or San Diego County Crime Stoppers' anonymous toll-free tip line at (888) 580-8477.
