Small plane crash causes brush fire near El Capitan Reservoir in Lakeside

LAKESIDE (KUSI) — Firefighters were responding to a small fire Saturday north of the El Capitan Reservoir in Lakeside after a small plane crashed.

The fire was first reported at 4:18 p.m. as being the result of a possible plane crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Cleveland National Forest officials said confirmed that there was indeed a plane crash and described it as a non-survivable incident.

The fire is estimated to be between 15-20 acres as of 6:45 p.m.

The rate of spread of the fire has been stopped, containment progress is currently unknown
