The Division 4 semifinals match-up between the San Diego Cavers (11-0) and the Central Spartans (10-1) ended with a win for the Cavers 26-22.

The Cavers have not played in a semifinals game since 1969. San Diego did way more than just appear in the game, they won the game and advance to the finals.

San Diego were the first to throw points on the board, Jayden Wickware to Anthony Martinez for a tie 21 yard touchdown pass and to take the lead 6-0. Moments later the Spartans answered right back with a 37 yard touchdown pass from Deniro Osuna to Tyrese Marsh to take the lead 7-6. The first quarter ended with the Spartans in the lead.
In the second quarter, the Spartans were the only ones to score, with a nice 5 yard touchdown run by Angel Nava- Esparza. The first half ended with the Spartans in the lead 14-6.

Caver’s Coach James must have had a motivating pep talk to San Diego during half time because they came out a completely different team in the second half. Raiden Hunter with the 9 yard touchdown run to catch the Caver’s up with the Spartans 14-12. But the Spartans answered right back, this time with a 37 yard gain by Tyrese Marsh which lead to a 6 yard touch down, which next lead to a 2-point conversion and the Spartans remain in the lead 22-12.

Later in the fourth quarter, the Spartans line up in punt formation but try to fake it, but Jayden Wickware says not on my watch and stops the ball and the Caver’s get a safety to bring the score 22-14. On the very next play, Jayden Wickware back to receive, and he takes it all the way to the end zone for a 68 yard kick return for the touchdown. San Diego only down by two at this point. Thats when Thomas Marcus goes in at quarterback and finds Wickware in the corner of the end zone for a 21 yard touchdown pass to take the lead 26-22.

The Spartans trying to come back with under a min left and on the final drive Daniel Thomas for the Caver’s gets the interception and its over. The San Diego Caver’s wins the semifinals and advance to the finals. For the first time in 48 years the Caver’s have done it. They will face Monte Vista in the division 4 finals.
