Smoke from wildfire in Mexico spills over U.S. border near Otay Mesa

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A plume of smoke visible in southern San Diego County is resulting from a wildfire in northern Baja California, according to Cal Fire.

Cal Fire officials are monitoring the situation and believe that the fire poses no threats to the United States side of the border.

Reports that the flame was a controlled burn were unfounded. 

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
