SoccerCity opens new campaign headquarters in Kearny Mesa

San Diego State University is growing, and the argument for expansion is becoming more and more appealing to San Diegans. But the race to redevelop Mission Valley Stadium isn’t over yet. The SoccerCity initiative is also popular with residents, and the campaign is stepping it up with a new office in Kearny Mesa.

Nick Stone with FS Investors visited the studio Monday morning to talk about the social and economic benefits of “Measure E” and the volunteer enthusiasm that is driving the SoccerCity campaign forward.

SoccerCity, Yes on Measure E, is a 100-percent privately funded proposal to redevelop the Mission Valley stadium site in half of the time of any other plan while generating double the taxes – nearly $400 million – for city of San Diego services and schools. The new development would create a family-friendly destination for all San Diegans, including a new stadium for Major League Soccer and SDSU Football, a sprawling river park, housing, a sports-and entertainment district and room for SDSU to expand. The initiative is scheduled to go before voters in November.
